Nomathemba Langa, the founder of Inyama Yethu, has become a prominent figure in South South Africa’s agricultural landscape. Operating from a 326-hectare farm at the Zvezda Game Resort in Brits, North West, Langa has successfully established a fully integrated livestock farming and meat processing enterprise.

Langa’s journey began in 2015 with a focus on piggery. Through resilience, entrepreneurship, and partnerships with organizations like the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) and Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda), she has expanded Inyama Yethu to breed cattle, goats, and game, alongside running a state-of-the-art meat processing facility.

“Agriculture is not just about farming the land; it’s about understanding the entire value chain—from breeding and processing to retail and distribution,” Langa shares. Her success stands as a beacon of inspiration for young black women looking to break into commercial agriculture.

Inyama Yethu, situated in Brits, North West, is more than just a successful farming and meat processing business. Under the guidance of founder Nomathemba Langa, the 326-hectare farm has developed into a fully accredited training centre under the Agriculture Sector Education Training Authority (Seta).

The farm hosts final-year students from institutions such as the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) and the Tompi Seleke College of Agriculture in Limpopo, offering them hands-on experience in livestock management, meat safety, and butchery operations.

Langa is also dedicated to social empowerment, offering skills training programs to recovering substance abuse addicts and local unemployed youth. “We want to equip people with practical skills that can help them get employed or start their own farming businesses,” says Langa.

Starting a commercial agricultural business from scratch is a massive undertaking, but Nomathemba Langa has successfully built Inyama Yethu into a thriving, fully integrated agro-processing business.

From breeding and raising livestock to processing premium meat products (like biltong, salami, and hampers) in their own facility, Inyama Yethu manages every stage of production. This guarantees maximum hygiene, compliance with the Red Meat Safety Act, and premium quality for retail customers.

With support from local enterprise development agencies, Inyama Yethu has optimized its packaging, labels, and cold chain distribution, setting a gold standard for modern South African farming enterprises.
